Winter Scratch League 2010-2011

The CHLCGA Winter Scratch Ladder runs from 07/11/2010 to 01/04/2011. It is open to all ladies with handicaps of 12 or below affiliated to any CHLCGA Club.
Players ascend the ladder by challenging players above them in the ladder and swapping places. The competition winner is the person at the top of the ladder on 1st April 2011. Match results submitted after 1st April will be void.

Starting Off
A random draw will be made in November 2010 of all entries received, and published here on the CHLCGA website, www.chlcga.co.uk/ladder. Anyone wishing to join the scratch ladder after 7th November will join the bottom of the ladder providing they are eligible. Challenges may be issued from 8th November onwards.

Challenging

Issuing a Challenge: A player may challenge anyone up to 3 places above them in the ladder. The challenge is singles scratch matchplay over 18 holes, with sudden death in the event of a draw.
Winning a Challenge: If a player is successful in a challenge, then the two players swap places on the ladder.
Arranging the Match: The players must arrange a mutually convenient time and venue to be arranged for no more than 3 weeks after the challenge has been issued. Please be considerate and avoid peak times and competitions. Although arrangements are made by mutual agreement, the challenger has the final say as to where and when. If no convenient date can be found and the challenger has offered at least 3 dates including a weekend, then the challenger is deemed to win, otherwise the challenge is voided. Note: If a challenge is issued between 3rd December and 24th December, 4 weeks will be allowed for the match to take place to avoid the Christmas break.
Course Closure: In the event of a match being arranged and the course is closed, another date must be arranged within a further 3 week period.
Multiple Challenges: When a player issues a challenge, she may not issue a 2nd challenge to another player until after the original challenge match has been played.

FAQ
Q:
What if the person I challenge challenges someone else in the meantime and is more than 3 places above me?
A: That is ok. The person must be no more than 3 places above you - as published on the web - on the day you issue the challenge. If you win, you will still swap places, so you could move up 6 places and they could move down by the same.

Q: What if the person I challenge is challenged by someone else in the meantime and is below me when we play?
A: The challenge must still take place. However, you will only swap places if you lose. The winner of the match will always be given the highest position on the ladder of the two players.
