In near perfect conditions the Ely City pair of Ros Grey and Terry Robinson came through with a late surge to claim the Cambs and Hunts Autumn Foursomes, a 36 hole stableford competition, by just two points.
The home pair was languishing in 14th place after a morning round of 29 points but produced a stunning afternoon round of 42 points for a total of 71, to claim top spot.
A countback was required to determine second place with Rosemary Farrow (St Neots) and Tina Broadley (Ely City) with scores of 34 and 35, just ahead of half-way leaders Jane McGlashen and Julie Miller (Brampton Park), whose 35 and 34 points left them both on 69.
The best morning round went to Bourn’s Yvonne Prevett and Joyce Grimes who scored 32 points, while the best afternoon round came from Binnie Bridgeman and Barbara Woods (Ely City) with 36 points.
