CAMBS & HUNTS 2ND TEAM STILL UNDEFEATED IN 2010

Tuesday, July 20, 2010

We did it again - we beat Hertfordshire!!!!!

So... new tactics (listened to what Jacquie said about team talk before start of play not at lunch time!) lol.

Grace couldn't play in the morning and Lesley wasn't sure about whether she would be able to play in the afternoon, so I brought in Kay Osborne - a  steady Brampton member. I played with Kay in the morning and between us, as a team, we won 2 matches and halved the other. A great start to lead into the afternoon. (See Full Results Sheet).
In the afternoon Lesley was ok to play, so I dropped myself, and Grace played.
Our team talk was bribery at lunchtime for a Bottle of Champagne and extra ice in Tina's Coke (she doesn't drink!) if we won overall. It worked!

Though as usual it was very nerve wracking, after Lesley led out the field and secured a half then the following 3 games were lost. Tina who was last out was 2 up on the 16th so I knew she was going to win and I then had to focus on Marilze, player 5, who was 1 up on the 17th. After a little advice on wind direction (very windy yesterday) she hit a great shot up the 18th whilst her opponent ended up in the trees, and Marilzie secured a par whilst her opponent only managed a 5 to win 2 up.

I booked Brampton for the Herts match as I knew that they would have young girls playing (some only 14), and they like to get their drivers out, but wouldn't be able to very often at Brampton and instead would have to think their way round. It worked, and age and experience proved it does work sometimes!

One VERY happy C&Hunts Captain - unlike the Herts one!! LOl

After supper- we celebrated with Coke and Champagne.

Next match Monday 26th July at Diss with some team bonding (as if we need it) the night before in a Premier inn somewhere near! Please come and support us if you can.
