FOURSOMES CHAMPIONSHIP 2010

County Juniors Sarah Smith (Links) and Miranda Brain (Gogs) brought about the end of a long run of success as they clinched their first County Foursomes Championship title. The holders Julie Walter (St Ives) and Sarah Greenall (Links) were seeking a seventh consecutive title but Sarah and Miranda started off in positive mood and took a four shot lead after the morning round with a gross 77. Despite the heavy showers during the afternoon round the top two pairs continued to produce some excellent golf. Although Julie and Sarah produced a gross 77 in the afternoon, a four shot improvement on their morning round, Sarah and Miranda responded brilliantly with a gross 74 for a total 151 to clinch the title. Julie and Sarah took second place with a gross 158 with Sharren Kjenstad (Ramsey) and Tina Broadley (Ely City) were third with a total of 161.
In the handicap section Bourn’s Mae Kember and Judy Morris took top sport with a nett 142, with Abbotsley’s Jo Fletcher and Alison Jarrett in second place with 144.
